Laura Flamand is a full research professor at the Center for International Studies at El Colegio de México (Colmex) and a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI-Conacyt). Flamand is also the founding director of the Network for the Study of Inequalities at Colmex. She earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Rochester in 2004. Her research focuses on social and gender inequalities, intergovernmental public policies, especially in the health sector, and applied statistics. She has published six books and more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. In addition, Flamand has led multidisciplinary research groups in over twenty research projects with funding from the UN Women, the World Bank, UNESCO, BBVA Research, and several government agencies in Mexico.
